Meet Our Staff

Angela Shill

Angela Shill has been a legal assistant at Avant Law Firm since 2014. She schedules court hearings, depositions, mediations, and orders clients’ medical and billing records from their medical providers.  Angela finds the legal practice fascinating. She enjoys being a part of the law firm team and interacting daily with lawyers, court staff, and clients.

Before working at Avant Law Firm, Angela worked as a deputy clerk for eight years at the Dallas County Courthouse. There, she prepared documents for civil law judges, filed new lawsuits, and assisted members of the public in their interaction with the courts.

Angela is currently pursuing an Associate’s degree. When not working with the law firm or preparing for class, she enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with her children.

Patricia Martinez

Patricia Martinez is the office manager and a legal assistant who has worked at Avant Law Firm since 2011. Pat manages our clients’ cases. She communicates regularly with our clients to ensure they are receiving the medical care they need, document their progress, and address their questions or concerns.

She also assists the attorneys in litigation, gathering documentation from health and auto liability insurance companies. She also identifies any outstanding bills for our clients and finds all potential means of recovery and payment.

Pat has a law degree from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and has earned a certification in contract law. She’s licensed to practice law in Mexico and speaks fluent English and Spanish. Pat’s ability to translate between Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing, provides our clients with a better understanding of the legal process and what to expect in their case.

Recently, Pat became an empty nester as the last of her two children left home for college. In her free time, she enjoys swimming at the gym, traveling with her mother, and watching movies and historical documentaries.
